The Social Committee (formerly known as the Fun Committee) is pleased to bring you the New York Philosophy Picnic this Sunday, September 30 in Prospect Park.
Location: the picnic tables just north of Picnic House (an old red brick building). Here is a link to an interactive map of Prospect Park: http://www.prospectpark.org/visit/interactive_map. If you click “Picnic House” and then check “Picnic Areas”, you will see the exact location of the picnic tables.
How to get there: the closest subway stops are 15 St-Prospect Park (F, G) and Prospect Park (B, Q, S). Once inside the park, follow the signs for “Picnic House”. From 5 Washington Pl, you can take the N and then transfer to the Q at Canal St. It should take approx. 30 min to get to Prospect Park.
Time: noon to late afternoon
Who to bring: Friends and family are very welcome. Since we are trying to make this an interdepartmental event, we also encourage everyone to invite colleagues from other New York area philosophy departments, as well as other NYU departments.
What to bring: something to eat or drink (I will bring some meat and veggies to BBQ as well as some drinks, but it would be great if others could bring something too).
Back-up plan in case of bad weather: we will gather at a pub/beer garden near Prospect Park (exact place tbd closer to the date).
