NY – MAPWorks Inaugural Session

January 30 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

The Minorities and Philosophy (MAP) chapters of Columbia, The CUNY Graduate Center, NYU, Rutgers, and The New School are excited to invite you to the first of a series of five workshops this Spring semester!

There will be two talks by graduate students or postdocs, followed by a reception with snacks and wine and the opportunity to meet philosophers from the New York area and beyond.

The schedule of the first session (at 5 Washington Pl., Room 202) is:

  • 7:00-7:50: Helios Bajwa (New School), “The Violence of Inclusion: Borders, Ideology and Migrant Labor in Singapore”
  • 7:55-8:45: Alejandro Naranjo Sandoval (Princeton), “Gatekeeping Generics: How Our Utterances Shape the Social World”
  • 8:45-9:30: Food & Beverage Reception (6th Floor Lounge)

NY-MAPWorks is a joint initiative of the NY-area MAP chapters to support and promote the work of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows from groups underrepresented in philosophy.
